Matt and I have taken to to referring to things that cost money in terms of "units of pad thai dinner". The exact exchange rate is as follows: 50 baht = 1.67 USD = 1 "unit of pad thai dinner."
For example: today we were in class, and our professor mentioned that he is going to upload all of the course materials online, so that if we prefer not to buy the course pack (which of course we hadn't bought yet) we could just read everything online. SCORE! 1 foregone course pack = $100 USD = 59.8 PAD THAI DINNERS! Yes, that is correct folks, by not buying one course pack we can now eat almost 60 meals. With that kind of exchange rate, you too would refer to things by "units of pad thai dinner".
For visual, here is a pic of Matt's lunch, which cost 50 baht (or 1.67USD or 1 UOPTD, naturally). This was taken at our school dining hall.
(So I just realized that this post is a bit ironic... because we actually named this blog "more than pad thai"... and yet so far I've probably talked more about pad thai than any other subject... let's just say this post is for you, Stacey! Probably means its time to branch out though...)
